Burmese students and Media work for democracy
Soldiers and army offensive on Buddhist monk's non violent protest for two weeks and curb on internet has made student leaders take the lead to continue the non violent protest as on Friday students and youth dominated the rallies."The monks have done their jobs and now we must carry on with the movement",said one student Leader in Yangon.
Burma media jointly accused the army and Police raiding their offices and in hotels in Rangoon where they work and reside.Media has been made to do the government propaganda or otherwise close the publication.Newspapers have refused to print government propaganda.Burma media association shall soon form a body which will document the military crackdown.
"There were a few hundred people singing the national anthem and then the soldiers shoot at them. Then, about 40 were taken away," onlooker said.
Another youth said ,"My internet is down. Even the broadband is down," she said. "I just talked to a person who can use broadband. Most of the Internet is down now in Yangon."
"We feel admiration and compassion for the monks and peaceful protesters calling for democracy. Every civilized nation has a responsibility to stand up for people suffering under a brutal military regime like the one that has ruled Burma for too long." said Dana Perino Whites house spokeswoman.
General Maung Aye is making efforts to make his position as heir-apparent to General Than Shwe,who is reported to have not keeping good health.
