International Human Rights Day being observed today
Today is International Human Rights Day. Several functions, seminars are being organised across the country to mark the occasion. Human Rights Day 2010 will highlight the achievements of human rights defenders and to inspire a new generation of defenders to speak up and take action to end discrimination in all of its forms whenever and wherever it is manifested.
This year a well known human rights activist from India Dr. Lenin Raguvanshi will be presented the 2010 Human Rights Award of the city of Weimar in Germany. Dr. Raguvanshi the founder of People Vigilance Committee on Human Rights has been chosen for the award for his efforts to protect the rights of disadvantaged section of the society such as women, Children, Dalit and minorities.
