Moily takes public transport once again

But are our public spaces safe enough for us to follow his lead?

The petroleum minister Veerappa Moily lives up to his promise of taking the metro to work, but is our mobility apparatus safe and geared to support the common people when they decide to follow suit? Sunita Narain's unfortunate accident highlights the risks that every cyclist and pedestrian is subjected to in our car-centric cities.

At a time when oil price vagaries, rapid motorisation and health costs from pollution have upset both national and household budgets, cities need strategies to augment, modernise, and scale up and also provide comfort of journey to all. The time is ripe to reclaim space for the people -- for us -- as our right to walk, cycle and our health is not negotiable

Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) invites you to a Press Conference to discuss the above issues.

Venue: Core 6A, 4th Floor, India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road
Day and Date: Wednesday, October 23, 2013
Time: 3:00-4:00 pm
