Nations Capital Prefers PNG
Posted: 11 May 2015 03:36 AM PDT
Indraprastha Gas limited (IGL)  is on the verge of breaking records by providing nearly 100,000 homes with piped natural gas (PNG). IGL is a joint venture betweenGAIL and BCPL. The rising use in PNG suggests that Indian consumers prefer the convenience and utility PNG provides. Further evidence suggests that PNG is safer as compared to traditional fuels, such as wood fired stoves and gas cylinders.
IGL  added 72,771 connections during 2013-14. Company MD Narendra Kumar said IGL was committed to maintaining the highest level of safety standards in its operations and appealed to customers to strictly follow the safety precautions as disseminated by IGL from time to time.
He added that it would be IGL’s endeavour to better its record in the current year by covering new colonies.
IGL sells clean fuel to nearly 8 lakh vehicles in NCR through a network of over 300 CNG stations.

Dear All,

Centre launches Social Security Schemes

Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched three flagship social security schemes namely Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Atal Pension Yojana on 9th May, 2015 at Kolkata.
The Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana is intended to offer a renewable one-year life cover of Rs 2 lakh to all savings bank account holders in the age group of 18-50 years, covering death due to any reason, for a premium of Rs 330 per annum.
The Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana will offer a renewable one-year accidental death-cum-disability cover of Rs 2 lakh for partial/permanent disability to all savings bank account holders in the age group of 18-70 years for a premium of Rs 12 per annum per subscriber.
Atal Pension Yojana will focus on the unorganised sector and provide subscribers a fixed minimum pension of Rs 1,000, Rs 2,000, Rs 3,000, Rs 4,000 or Rs 5,000 per month, starting at the age of 60 years, depending on the contribution option exercised on entering at an age between 18 and 40 years.
The three social security schemes would certainly help in addressing the problem of ‘zero balances’ seen with most accounts opened under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan scheme and will motivate customers to keep their bank accounts functional going ahead. It was also mentioned at the launch that the schemes have been announced with a target of 80% of the people who are not covered by any social security measure.
The schemes would come into effect from June 1, 2015 and Rs. 5 crore, 5 lakh people had enrolled for them so far.
