Congress today demanded immediate sacking of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj over the Lalit Modi travel document issue. Briefing reporters in New Delhi, party spkesperson Ajoy Kumar said it is strange that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was not aware of Mrs Swaraj helping Lalit Modi. Saying that NDA government is protecting suit-boot people, Mr Kumar said the Prime Minister should immediately sack the External Affairs Minister.

The Opposition has sharpened attack against External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj for helping Lalit Modi acquire travel documents. Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi yesterday demanded that External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj be sacked from the Union Cabinet in the wake of revelations related to former IPL Chief Lalit Modi.

Talking to reporters in Chhattisgarh, he said External Affairs Minister is just a member of the cabinet and she should be dropped from the ministry instead of waiting for her resignation. Rahul Gandhi said, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi is yet to make his stand clear on black money.

Demanding resignation of Mrs Swaraj, Aam Aadmi Party leader Kumar Vishwas said, a decision to help Lalit Modi could not have been taken without the knowledge of the Prime Minister’s Office. CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury said charges raised against Mrs Swaraj are serious and asked why Prime Minister who talks about accountability and corruption free governance is silent on the issue.

BJP ally Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut said, Sushma Swaraj is being targeted to weaken the Modi government and his party has complete faith in her.
Reacting sharply to the allegations, Union Minister and BJP leader Prakash Javadekar targeted the Congress for what it called playing cheap politics on the issue.

Mr Javadekar said, the Congress has no issue and making mountain out of a mole. He alleged that there is a total bankruptcy of ideas in the Congress. He said, when Lalit Modi left the country why Congress which was in power at that time did not act.

Mr Javadekar also ruled out the resignation of the External Affairs Minister saying that she has already explained her position and BJP president endorsed her clarification.

Terming the Lalit Modi row as the biggest conspiracy to weaken the Narendra Modi Government Shiv Sena has backed External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and said that the party has full faith in her. In today’s editorial of Party mouthpiece Saamna Shiv Sena slammed the opposition parties, especially Congress , for vitiating the atmosphere over the issue of helping Lalit Modi in aquiring travel documents.

The party has given a clean cheat to the External affairs minister saying that her 35-40 year old career in politics is totally clean and it is the biggest conspiracy fabricated by some of the leaders in the opposition to ruin her career in politics. The party has also said that in future these same people may also create a conspiracy against the Prime Minister and it should be probed.

Shiv Sena has alleged that Congress had helped Warren Anderson the main accused in the Bhopal Gas Tragedy and Ottavio Quattrocchi the main accused of Bofors scam to flee the country.

Therefore they have no right to raise questions about the issue as nothing wrong has happened in Lalit Modi row. Shiv Sena has also appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene in the matter and probe the biggest political conspiracy to destabilise the government.
