Hockey India 6th sub junior national hockey championship 2016 (women) ‘B’ Division to commence in Nagaon, Assam
Nagaon, Assam, 4th January 2015: Hockey India the apex body for hockey in India announced the commencement of 6th Sub Junior National Hockey Championship 2016 (women) ‘B’ division in Nagaon, Assam. The sixth edition of the national championships marks Hockey India’s first national event for the year of 2016. The players playing in the tournament are of less than 16 years category. The tournament will be played from 5th – 13th January and will feature 18 teams would play to be crowned the National Champions for 2016 in the division.
This is the first tournament of the year and will see young and fresh talent on display. Hockey India has been promoting young stars who can make it big in the international circuit and this tournament since its inception in 2010 has been the breeding ground for it. The tournament will be closely monitored by the national selectors and it will be a good opportunity for the players to make their mark for their future endeavours.
Defending Champions Hockey Mizoram would begin their campaign against hosts Hockey Assam on 6th January 2016 4:30 PM onward. Assam is one of the premier venues for Hockey in India and will also witness the staging of the 12th South Asian Games.
