Tensions has escalated afresh along the Bangladesh-Myanmar frontier as border forces of the two countries traded gunfire for hours sparked off by the killing of a Bangladeshi guard on patrol yesterday. Border Guards Bangladesh chief Major General Aziz Ahmed told the media that Myanmar’s Border Guard Police opened fire afresh on the Bangladeshi frontier troops after asking them to come to a certain location to take back the body, believed to of slain BGB soldier. The foreign ministry earlier summoned Myanmar’s envoy in Dhaka to protest the unprovoked action and demanded an investigation into the incident. Bangladesh shares a 190-kilometre southeastern border with Myanmar.
Modi abolished all the 30 GoMs and EGoMsPosted on May 31, 2014by sagarmedia Posted on May 31, 2014by  Dismantling a legacy of UPA rule, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday abolished all the 30 GoMs and EGoMs and told ministries and departments to take decisions on pending matters.  Announcing the decision to scrap nine Empowered Groups of Ministers and 21 Groups of Ministers, the PMO said this would expedite the process of decision-making and “usher in greater accountability in the system.” 
The Ministries and Departments will now process the issues pending before EGoMs and GoMs and take appropriate decisions at the level of Ministries and Departments itself, said the statement.  It said wherever the ministries face difficulties, the Cabinet Secretariat and the Prime Minister’s Office will facilitate the decision-making process.  The statement announcing the abolition of EGoMS and GoMs termed it as “major move” to empower the ministries and Departments.
