Ace Indian discus thrower Krishna Poonia has won the Gold medal in the Annual Athletic Meet at Portland in the United States. Taking part in the first competition of her training stint in the USA, she hurled the discus to 58.88 metres today to bag the yellow metal. Poonia's performance in the IAAF-event was also her best performance of the season.
Commonwealth Games gold medallist Poonia had four throws above 58 metres while her two efforts recorded 57.61 metres and 57 metres.
In October, Poonia will participate in another IAAF-approved event at Chula Visa in California where she recorded her personal best of 63.69 metres in April last year.
