Maldives assures India

Maldives on Friday assured India that it will never allow anything which may threaten India's security. It said that it values the assistance provided to it whenever it needed. Talking exclusively to select group of journalists from India, the Maldivian President Mr. Mohamed Nasheed said his country will not let down a friend like India and it will always bank upon New Delhi in the hour of need.

He was responding to a question on the reported Chinese exploration in the Indian Ocean and its efforts to have a foothold in Maldives. Further adds, India and Maldives share same culture. He expressed satisfaction that India and Pakistan are now having more meaningful conversations and hoped that the forthcoming SAARC Summit will be a great success.

He commended the fact that India despite being so huge always listens to a small country like Maldives. He praised India's efforts to address the challenges posed by climate change. Mr. Nasheed said, India's investment in the area of climate is much higher than several developed countries.
