Greenpeace India

Dear Naresh,

I am Mahesh Bhatt, filmmaker by profession, but an environmentalist by passion. Today, I write to you with urgency about what could be contaminating our plates, and our farmers’ soil – genetically modified mustard.

Don’t modify mustard, don’t tamper with my food!

The Genetic Engineering Appraisal Committee (GEAC which sits under the Environment Ministry) is about to make a decision on commercial cultivation of GM mustard. This means that your favourite dishes- sambhar or sarson da saag will change forever. My friends at Greenpeace India and many prominent organisations working for food safety have been talking about this issue for a few days. Apparently, there is a report on the impacts of GM Mustard, but it’s not been shared with people, wonder why the secrecy[1]?

I say no to GM Mustard!

Naresh, we are running out of time. Less than 10 days left! What’s amazing is that – the movement has already picked up. Dhara (one of two institutions funding investment in GM mustard) are pulling out. This shows that our voices are being heard. But we need lots more people to join us!

Tell Prakash Javadekar, Minister of Environment, Forests & Climate Change to Stop GM Mustard

This is about our farmers, our food and our future. We cannot let anyone tamper with it. Time is running out, I am banking on your support.

Thanks!
