Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert arrived on Monday at prison to begin serving a 19-month sentence for bribery and obstruction of justice, AP said. Olmert, 70, the first former Israeli prime minister to serve time in prison, was shown on television walking into the Maasiyahu prison in central Israel. He was convicted in March 2014 in a case that saw him accused of accepting bribes to promote a controversial real-estate project in Jerusalem. The charges related to a period when he was mayor of Jerusalem and trade minister. He became prime minister in 2006.
