Abe Cabinet reshuffle

Abe said, he will reshuffle his Cabinet and change some executives of his Liberal Democratic Party on Wednesday of next week.

Abe said at an informal Cabinet meeting on Friday that, under the new Cabinet, he wants to accelerate his economic policy known as Abenomics. He said he hopes to firmly implement his policies in response to the people's mandate given in the latest Upper House election.

He said he plans to adopt new economic stimulus measures at a Cabinet meeting next Tuesday. The economic stimulus package is currently being compiled.

Abe added he wants the package to contain bold, powerful measures for investing in the future.

Abe apparently intends to keep Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga and Finance Minister Taro Aso in their posts.

He is reportedly considering replacing the Liberal Democratic Party secretary-general. Sadakazu Tanigaki is in hospital after a bicycle accident and it is not known when he will be able to resume his duties.
