Lebanon to form new government
US embassy in Beirut on Tuesday urged all parties in Lebanon to uphold the country’s policy of disassociation from foreign conflicts, media reports.
Lebanon is forming a new government after Hezbollah and its allies won more than half the seats in Sunday’s election. “We urge all parties to uphold Lebanon’s international obligations, including those contained in UN Security Council Resolutions 1559 and 1701,” the diplomats said in a statement.
Sunday’s parliamentary election was the first in nine years. Hezbollah was the winner. The Shia Muslim party with a military wing which is backed by Iran won a small minority in parliament, and dealt a blow to Prime Minister Saad Hariri, who is supported by predominately Sunni Saudi Arabia.
Hariri is expected to form the next government, despite his party losing a third of its seats. It remains the largest Sunni bloc in parliament.
The resolutions relate to the withdrawal of all foreign forces from Lebanon and the disarmament of all militias including Hezbollah. Lebanon with rampant, Corruption, regular power cuts, town rubbish piling up on the streets, daily migrants adding from Syria are the challenges faced by the Prime Minister Saad Hariri,

Deep Rooted Fraud plaguing Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India,AKFI
Single Family controlling AKFI for last 28 years
New Delhi, May 9: Deep routed fraud has been plaguing the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India as the Federation is under control of single family for last 28 years. AKFI is being run as a private property of Mr Janardan Singh Gahlot and his family as they have misused and looted national fund for their personal gains.
‘The Federation stands taken over by one family for a period of over 28 years, firstly by Mr J S Gahlot as President for 21 years, after him by his wife Dr Mridul Bhadauria Gahlot (Full time Gynaecologist in Jaipur) and thereafter by their son Mr Tej Pratap (an engineer by profession),” observed Delhi Court in its order dated January 30, 2018.
“There has never been any election for any posts in the Managing Committee of Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India and the office bearers have always been appointed unopposed for consecutive terms. Even when National Sports Code of India bars anybody above 70 years to hold any position, Mr J S Gahlot called a Special General Body Meeting and got himself appointed as Life President by changing the minutes of the Association and AKFI Constitution,” Legal expert and Supreme Court lawyer Bharat Nagar said.
“There is a racket flourishing where non-players pay Rs 40 – 50 lakh and are allowed to participate in International Kabaddi events. And people receive handsome prize of Rs 2 crore / Rs 1 crore from the government when the team wins Gold or Silver medal,” Mahipal Singh National Kabaddi player, who filed the petition against AKFI in Delhi High Court.
It is such a sorry state at AKFI where players over the age of 40 are still playing where young players are not given a chance. The records clearly state the date of birth of most of the players at the national level is in 1980s. Even close relatives of the President were allowed to play for India directly in international tournaments without any prior participation in national events.
In its verdict in the matter of BCCI v/s Cricket Association of Bihar, the Supreme Court said that any politician, bureaucrat, who are not concerned with particular game should not be allowed to sit on such posts to control the affairs relating to the game. In this context the affairs in AKFI is really alarming.

IOM DG Marks 3rd Anniversary of EU-China Migration Dialogue Project
Beijing – IOM Director-General William Lacy Swing yesterday addressed European and Chinese stakeholders marking three years of the EU-China Dialogue on Migration and Mobility Support Programme (MMSP), a project funded by the European Partnership Instrument and implemented jointly by IOM and ILO.
The event brought together about 100 stakeholders from European diplomatic missions, Chinese official bodies, think-tanks and other IOM and ILO partner agencies.
Ambassador Swing commended the European Union and China’s commitment to the MMSP project, which brings together European and Chinese migration policy makers and practitioners to share best practices and experiences.
He also congratulated China on the establishment of three new government entities – the National Immigration Administration, International Development Cooperation Agency and Ministry for Emergency Management. All of them are essential for the formulation good migration policies and effective migration management, he noted.

During his visit to China, Ambassador Swing, who will step down as Director General of IOM later this year, also officially launched the IOM “WeChat APP”, which provides Pre-Departure Orientation (PDO) to Chinese workers migrating to Europe. MTaI for wider Delhi Government consultation
Medical Technology Association of India (MTaI), which represents leading research-based medical technology companies with significant manufacturing investments in India, welcomed Delhi Government’s initiative to cap profit margins in healthcare but asked for a wider consultation to ensure that a balanced approach is adopted for patients’ wellbeing.
Media reports suggest that a nine-member committee was set up five months ago to suggest the scope of profit margins on medicines and consumables.
The committee comprised of members of Delhi Medical Council, Indian Medical Associations and some bureaucrats in the health department. It is also reported that Delhi government will issue a policy based on the recommendation of the committee in next few days.
The panel is said to have suggested capping of the profit margin for drugs and devices at a maximum of 50% above the manufacturing price or procurement cost, whichever was lower.
The Report of The Committee of High Trade Margins in the Sale of Drugs recommends that profit margin should be the difference between the Price to Trade (the price at which the manufacturer or marketing company sells the drug to the distributor or stockist) and the MRP.
The report adds that “the government should consider capping the overall trade margins, thus, giving a level playing field to every trade channel. Industry should have the flexibility to decide intra-trade channel percentage considering multiple factors of market access and supplies”. The report is currently under the consideration of the Department of Pharmaceuticals.
“This suggestion, once implemented, will significantly reduce MRPs and yet keep innovative, high quality products available for all sections of Indian patients. Moreover, it will allow the companies to continue to do the training they provide to the Healthcare workers on the use of these devices. It will usher in greater transparency in the pricing of medical devices, leading to more accessibility and affordability”, MTaI said.
“Considering the urgency of the matter at hand of the policymakers, we have requested the Health Minister of the Delhi Government to give us an opportunity to explain our views in detail to enable formation of a widely acceptable policy. To ensure lasting success of the policy, the state government should proceed only after all stake holders, including the medical technology industry, have been heard and their contentions have been understood thoroughly,” the association said.
US nulls & void ‘defective’ Iran deal
US President Donald Trump announced Tuesday that the United States was withdrawing from what he called a “defective” multinational nuclear deal with Iran, adding that Washington would, however, reinstate sanctions against the Islamic republic.
“The Iran deal is defective at its core,” Trump said in a televised address from the White House. “I am announcing today that the United States will withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal.”
He called Tehran the world’s leading state sponsor of terror and decried its influence in the Middle East.
The US president claimed to have proof that Iran had lied about the deal adding that his country had failed to hold Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
“Iran nuclear deal doesn’t constrain Iran´s destabilizing activities, including support for terrorism,” he said. “The deal has inadequate mechanisms to prevent cheating.”
He further said the deal was supposed to protect the US and its allies, but it allowed Iran to continue to enrich uranium.
“No action taken by Iran has been more dangerous than its pursuit of nuclear weapons.”
Accusing Iran of supporting state terrorism, Trump said the country had caused havoc across the Middle East and beyond.
“If I allow this deal, everyone will want nuclear arms,” said Trump. “It will be a nuclear arms race.”
A senior US official had earlier said it was unclear if efforts by European allies to address Trump’s concerns would be enough to save the pact.
Trump had repeatedly threatened to withdraw from the deal, which eased economic sanctions on Iran in exchange for Tehran limiting its nuclear program unless France, Germany, and Britain — which also signed the agreement — fix what he has called its flaws.
Iran has ruled out renegotiating the accord and threatened to retaliate, although it has not said exactly how, if Washington pulls out.
French President Emmanuel Macron said Tuesday that France, Germany and Britain regretted US President Donald Trump´s decision to withdraw from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal.
“France, Germany, and the UK regret the US decision to leave the JCPOA (Iran deal). The nuclear non-proliferation regime is at stake,” he wrote on Twitter.
“We will work collectively on a broader framework, covering nuclear activity, the post-2025 period, ballistic activity, and stability in the Middle-East, notably Syria, Yemen, and Iraq,” he added.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed his strong support for US President Donald Trump’s “bold” decision Tuesday to withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal, which the Israeli leader has repeatedly criticised.
“Israel fully supports President Trump’s bold decision today to reject the disastrous nuclear deal,” Netanyahu said in a televised address, referring to the multinational accord with his country’s main enemy.
